Florence for fashionistas

A quick guide to my favourite fashionable spots in and around the Tuscan capital

Florence for fashion

MERGING DESIGN

Fly, the Fashion and Accessories and Technology School (FAST) retail space, showcases one-off creations by emerging designers and students in Florence for fashionistas. Studying at this lauded design academy, students create couture clothing and accessories, including shoes, and then sell their unique pieces from the boutique at the school entrance.

PERFUME EMPORIUM

Perfume master Lorenzo Villoresi has been working magic since 1990 in a secluded bottega (workshop) surrounded by exotic scents worldwide. He is famous for his one-of-a-kind, made-to-order bottles. You can also visit his perfume emporium hidden in an old palazzo on the south side of San Niccolo.

GREEN DINING

Vegetarian fare has overtaken Florence, a city renowned for its meaty dishes. With the opening of L′OV, the plant-based dining options became more exciting. With a greenhouse-style dining room, gluten-free and vegan options, and a seasonal menu, L′OV offers many reasons to return.

ARTSY DREAMS

Boutique hotel and gallery Milu has 22 rooms, all decorated in a ′50s retro yet contemporary style. Original artwork lines the walls of the grand central staircase and is displayed neatly in every room. There′s an upstairs library plus a cosy terrace offering rooftop views over Florence′s most fashionable street.
